Nick Fradiani: One Year Later
It has been a year to the day since Nick Fradiani won the 14th season of American Idol. An entire 366 days have passed since my own personal glory-moment in talent show history. After the initial overwhelming feeling of pure bliss subsided I shamelessly thrived on telling all the naysayers “I told you so” and boy, did it feel good!
While many of his predecessors disappeared into obscurity within a year of their respective confetti showers, 30-year old Fradiani is constantly making headway in the global music industry.
Since his win on 13 May 2015 Nick played at a number of radio-sponsored concerts as well as appearing as a mentor on the final season of American Idol. His winning single ‘Beautiful Life’ was the official anthem for Team USA during the 2015 FIFA Women’s Soccer World Cup and is being played on radio stations across the globe.
On 10 March 2016 Nick’s new single ‘Get You Home’ was released - the same day he performed it as a guest artist on American Idol. The song is upbeat and fun and is doing well on various charts across America.
After more than a year in the making Nick’s debut album is set for release in august 2016. Titled ‘Hurricane’ (after a song co-written with Jason Mraz and Nick Abraham) the album only consists of songs co-written by Nick himself. I don’t expect anything other than a masterpiece from Nick and there is no doubt in my mind that ‘Hurricane’ will prove to be well worth the year-long wait his fans had to endure.
Instant fame might be a part of the winner’s package but it hasn’t changed Nick in any way. He is still the same small-town guy with the big smile and kind heart who won over a nation more than a year ago. I don’t think any number of accolades could take away from Nick’s charm and sincerity - a rare find in a very brutal industry.
Nick might have stars in his eyes but his feet are planted firmly on the ground. His dedication and perseverance speak volumes about the type of person he is and with the ongoing support from a very passionate group of supporters he can only go from strength to strength!
