American Idol XV: We Rank The Top 4
The bittersweet moment of the final American Idol Finale is approaching fast and it gets harder and harder to rank each performance.
I still have not experienced anything remotely close to a Nick Fradiani eargasm but credit has to be given to some outstanding performances.
Here is, without further ado – Our Top 4 ranking:
#4.
R: MacKenzie Bourg Mac fails to be memorable, his laidback style and nice performances struggling to compete against the rest of the Top 4, who all have that extra something. His time is up.
J: Dalton Rapattoni
I hate having Dalton at #4. He does not deserve to be ranked last but apparently people are tired of him making them feel sad. %&# at least he evokes some sort of emotion! This week might very well mark the end of his Idols journey but Dalton is sure to have made enough of an impact to be around for many years to come.
#3.
R: Dalton Rapattoni This dude's making me a little confused. He delivered two very emotional performances last week, and "Bird Set Free" was a perfect song for him, but personally, it felt a little overwrought to me. Still, his story is great and he knows how to play to it, but he's giving me James Durbin vibes. Hopefully this week he's back to his exciting punk rock self.
J: MacKenzie Bourg
Mac and Dalton should ideally swop places but I think that America might have warmed to MacKenzie slightly more. I initially thought he would be a serious contender for the title but he has failed to deliver a memorable performance. I pray that America got it right and that Dalton is the one advancing to the Top 3.
#2.
R: La'Porsha Renae And here it is. La'Porsha drops from the #1 spot after a not as perfect week of performances. Her Bon Jovi rendition was a risk that just missed the mark, but her version of Sia's "Elastic Heart" was great. At this stage, I'm not even too sure about her reaching the finale. Yes, she deserves to be there, no doubt, but she's being troubled by a surging Trent and Dalton's strong fan base.
J: La’Porsha Renae
I don’t think we should disregard a La’Porsha win just yet but after delivering her weakest performance of the season courtesy of Bon Jovi’s ‘Wanted Dead Or Alive’ Trent seems like the obvious choice for the crown. It is very hard to logistically separate the contestants at this point but I will stick to my gut and leave Miss Renae in second place.
#1.
R: Trent Harmon After having, arguably, one of the best nights a contestant has had in 15 seasons, and delivering the two best performances of the season thus far, I had to move Trent up two spots. He showed everything he needed to show to be a strong contender, and now he is. He needs to be in the finale. It could actually be another all-male final.
J: Trent Harmon
I have a feeling Trent might just win it all. He is delivering one brilliant performance after another and is a nice enough guy to appeal to the masses on an emotional level as well. Will Trent make for a worthy final American Idol winner? Yes sirree!
So there you have it! In just over a week the confetti shower will rain down on someone for the very last night,
