The Voice South Africa: Top 10 Blind Auditions
That’s it folks! The Blind Auditions are over and this Sunday will bring us the start of the Battles on The Voice South Africa.
Before the contestants take to the stage next it seems only fitting to narrow the Top 48 down to the 10 contestants I think impressed the most during the Blind Auditions.
Richard Stirton #TeamKahn
Richard is the guy who injured his back while playing cricket. All 4 judges turned their chairs but Richard chose Kahn in the end.
Austin Lurring #TeamLira
Austin was the head of the choir at Carter High school in Pietermaritzburg. Bobby hit his buzzer as soon as Austin started singing but he opted for Lira as he has always wanted to work with her.
Jeremy Olivier #TeamLira
Jeremy grew up in Zimbabwe and joined his first rock band at 14. All 4 the judges wanted Jeremy on their team but he decided to join Lira’s.
Jono Johansen #TeamLira
Jono is a world champion chorister who hails from Durban. It was no surprise that all 4 judges ended up fighting over him. Lira gained another top-notch contestant in Jono.
Robin Pieters #TeamLira
Robin studied music at the Cape Music Institute and has done backup vocals for many well-known artists. All4 judges wanted a piece of Robin but he chose Lira in the end.
Thembeka Mnguni #TeamKaren
Thembeka is no stranger to the stage and has toured with Pieter Toerien’s productions of the musicals Grease and High School Musical. Karen, Bobby and Lira both turned for her but in the end Thembeka chose to join Karen’s team.
Tracey-Lee Oliver #TeamKaren
Tracey-Lee Oliver is not just a singer – she has ventured into musical as well. Karen, Lira and Bobby all compete for Tracey-Lee but she goes with the coach who was always her first choice – Karen!
Lana Crowster #TeamBobby
Lana is your typical overachiever who has also been a member of the Belhar Music Collective Youth Band . Bobby’s abs gave her hot flushes and she happily joined his team.
Vernon Barnard #TeamBobby
Vernon Barnard born with glaucoma and lost his sight completely around the age of 6. His rendition of ‘The Story Of My Life’ will be remembered for years to come. After tears all around Vernon joined #TeamBobby
Gavin Edwards #TeamBobby
Gavin who originally hails from Durban but now lives in Johannesburg is already accustomed to a rock star lifestyle. He chose to join bobby’s team after impressing 3 of the 4 judges!
