American Idol XV: We Rank the Top 14

Courtesy of FOX

American Idol has narrowed the contestants down to the Top 14 which means the time has come for our weekly Power Rankings to commence.

At times Reinhardt and I will agree but at others all hell is bound to break loose as hearts and minds collide while we search for the next American Idol!

R: Jeneve Mitchell

No. Just no.

J: Manny Torres

I was surprised that Manny got the nod ahead of CJ Johnson, Adam Lasher and particularly Kory Wheeler. The poor guy has ‘cannon fodder’ written all over him,

R: Thomas Stringfellow

He tries too hard to be different, as witnessed during his dreadful "Creep" cover. MacKenzie is better.

J: Jeneve Mitchell

Jeneve is unique alright and seems like a very sweet kid but I think she is completely out of her depth in the competition. The judges seem to really like her though so she might just get a spot in the Top 10.

R: Manny Torres

Too inconsistent to leave much of an impression, and his attitude - or overconfidence - will hurt him.

J: Gianna Isabella

I personally love Gianna but sadly she has been on the receiving end of a lot of criticism. She is going to have a very tough time to live down her mom’s reputation.

R: Gianna Isabella

She has pipes, for sure, but her cover of "House of the Rising Sun" left me cold. Pipes do not help when there's no emotional connection.

J: Jenn Blosil

Jenn‘s Top 24 round was marred by bad song choices and ill-fitting duet partners. She is such a breath of fresh air amongst her peers and I hope she comes back with a bang next week!

R: Jenn Blosil

She had a pretty terrible Top 24 round: an ill-conceived rendition of Bieber's "sorry" and an OTT duet with Idol alum Constantine. But she's unique - good voice, quirky, likable. Hopefully she rebounds, but she will probably be cut this week.

J: Tristan McIntosh

Tristan is one of 2 contestants being punted relentlessly this season. She is talented enough to not rely on her sob story as much as she does. Enough with the tears already!

R: Lee Jean

Enough with the Ed Sheeran covers already! He has a sweet voice and tons of potential, though, and the judges like him - he'll stick around.

J: Sonika Vaid

Sonika was another shoo-in for a Top 14 spot! Her voice is absolutely angelic but she has zero stage presence. She needs to lighten up if she wants to make it all the way to the top!

R: Tristan McIntosh

Honestly, based on her performances last week, she didn't deserve a spot in the Top 14. The producers love her sob story, the judges thinks she's all that - so she'll go through, and probably further than the already too high #8 place.

J: Lee Jean

Lee has displayed quite a bit of cockiness throughout the season but he is so talented that a bit of attitude can be forgiven. His accomplished cover of Ed Sheeran’s ‘Runaway’ secured him a spot in the Top 14.

R: Sonika Vaid

Wonderful tone, sweet girl, pretty. She has the package. With the opportunity to grow, she could be something special.

J: Thomas Stringfellow

I love young Thomas but he seems to be rather polarizing. His ‘Man in the Mirror’ duet with Nick Fradiani was proof that he does know how to tone things down. Hopefully his artistry will be appreciated more as the weeks go by.

R: Avalon Young

Really, really like this girl. Chill, laid back, funky, and just plain cool. She probably won't make it as far as she should, but I can already see her making a funky pop-infused R&B album. I dig that.

J: Trent Harmon

How I love and appreciate the talent of mono boy. He has the potential to be one of those rare cross-genre success stories. I don’t think Trent has any idea just how good (and cute) he is. I’m hoping to have him in my Top 3 after his next performance.

R: MacKenzie Bourg

Different without trying to be. Good voice, mature lyrical interpretation, likable, and a dark horse. His rendition of "Say Something" was probably the best group one performance. If he keeps his momentum, a Top 5 spot could certainly be his.

J: Avalon Young

I love how unpretentious Avalon is. She just goes on stage and does her thing. She might not be a cookie-cutter American Idol winner but she has all the makings of a commercial star.

R: Trent Harmon

My favourite vocalist in the competition. He's versatile: Sam Smith, Jess Glynne, and Chris Stapleton? Soul, Pop, and Country nailed already. His voice makes him stand out, and he could be a real force in the competition.

J: Olivia Rox

Young Olivia is just so pretty and likeable. With some proper guidance she could become a force not only in the competition but in the music industry as well.

R: Olivia Rox

The closest to a potential female pop star on the show. Great voice, young, pretty, likable. She's got it covered. With some solid vocal mentoring (and who better than this week's mentor Kelly Clarkson?), Olivia could be a star

J: Mackenzie Bourg

Mackenzie might look like the love child of Harry Potter and Frodo but his voice is nothing short of sheer brilliance. I would like to hear a bit more volume from him but it’s safe to say he is Top 3 material

R: La'Porsha Renae

Producers, judges, viewers, they all love her. Fantastic voice, great personality and just a very sweet person in general. She's been built up to look like a frontrunner, and she is. Could she keep that momentum and show us that she's just not another big-voiced diva? That'll be the question.

J: Dalton Rapattoni

My heart tells me to put Dalton in the #1 spot because he is just that good and hopefully I can do so next week. He is super emotive and sports incredible good looks and a beautiful voice. His duet with Daughtry cemented him as a serious contender in the competition. I think he has the potential to be bigger than Adam Lambert!

R: Dalton Rapattoni

A pre-Idol fan base made up of thousands of young, impressionable girls, paired with his obvious talent, charisma, and yes, looks, this guy looks like the winner. He's already being compared to Adam Lambert (which is a stretch, but you get the idea). Dalton could certainly be a pop star, and would be a worthy final winner

J: La’Porsha Renae

La’Porsha has been a contender for the title since her very first audition. She is cute as a button and everyone seems to love her. Could she continue to dominate to the end or will one of the other contestants dethrone her in weeks to come?

Alternatively, if Idols does not work out for them, Dalton, Olivia, and Avalon would make a REALLY cool group too, so guys, please keep this in mind.
