American Idol XV: Meet The Top 24

Time sure flies when you are pretending to have fun! It seems like only yesterday that we endured the premiere of the farewell season of American Idol and here we are, congratulating (for most parts) the Top 24!

There were a few shocking eliminations with Jessica Cabral’s being the biggest ‘what the heck’ moment of the evening. Other surprise eliminations include Colette Lush (her San Fran audition was just SO good), Kayce Haynes and Lindita.

Out of the 51 contestants who performed only 24 will make the cut as they begin their voyage down the dreaded Green Mile.

After joy, celebrations and tears galore here is the America Idol Season XV’s Top 24!

Stephany Negrete

Stephany is channelling a very tearful Cher in a sparkly dress. She performed ‘Girl on Fire’ which J-Lo loved. The judges deliver the good news - she’s in the Top 24!

Shelbie Z

Shelby loves singing ‘Heart’ songs. This time it’s ‘Barracuda’. She has blossomed into quite the rocker chick. Welcome to the Top 24 Shelby.

Mackenzie Bourg

Mackenzie performs an acoustic version of Elvis Presley’s ‘I Can’t Help Falling In Love’. Was there ever any doubt that he would make it into the Top 24? We have a serious contender right here!

Trent Harmon

I loveTrent, mono and all. Poor guy is still sick. It was evident in his performance. The judges believe in him and he gets the nod for the Top 24!

Jenna Renae

One of my favourite girls. She is just so likeable. Hoping she makes it all the way to the end.

James VIII

One of the surprises of the night for me. Not sure where he fits into the bigger scope of things. Congrats nonetheless

Kory Wheeler

Why Kory received the ‘afterthought treatment’ is beyond me! I would have brought out a marching band and fireworks to announce his advancement to the Top 24.

Adam Lasher

Another shoo in for the Top 24. Adam already has a huge support system in place which could pose trouble for the other contestants should he make it to the voting rounds.

Jeneve Rose Mitchell

She has reworked Johnny Cash’s ‘Ring of Fire’. There is no denying her talent but I do not know how marketable she is. The judges don’t share my apprehension and she’s in the Top 24.

CJ Johnson

CJ’s gruff is incredibly sexy. His version of ‘Parachute’ oozed passion. He is welcomed into the Top 24 with open arms.

Amelia Eisenhauer

It is still hard to believe Amelia is only 16. Her rendition of ‘Empire state of Mind’ was made memorable by her confidence and trusted violin. The judges believe in her. You made it to the Top 24 Amelia!

Lee Jean

I’m a huge Ed Sheeran fan and was more than impressed by Lee’s version of ‘Make It Rain’. I was less impressed with him telling the audience to keep quiet. He seems a bit young for it all but is catapulted into the Top 24.

Avalon Young

I love how comfortable Avalon is in her own skin. She takes a risk with Chris Brown’s ‘Yo (Excuse Me Miss)’ and it pays off. A well-deserved spot in the Top 24!

Dalton Rapattoni

Dalton’s good looks are distracting. He might not be the best vocalist but there is something disturbingly addictive about him. He displays some real artistry during his cover of N’Sync’s ‘It’s gonna Be Me’. Welcome to the Top 24 Dalton!‘

Manny Torres

Manny is clearly a likeable guy but he is very inconsistent in his performances. The judges think he is worthy of a shot at the Top 24. He celebrates with his family afterwards.

Thomas Stringfellow

Thomas seems to be very polarizing. I like him. He reminds me of Sam Woolf. He recently got dumped and pours his heart into his performance. His dad tosses Ryan Seacrest around like a rag doll. It’s Top 24 timefor Thomas.

Sonika Vaid

Sonika is one of the best voices in the competition but seems a bit old-fashioned. She needs to work on her performances. The judges agree but decide she deserves a spot in the top 24.

Olivia Rox

Olivia performs a very husky rendition of Maroon 5’s ‘Love Somebody’. The judges pull a fake-out and pretend that they are not sure of whether to send her through to the Top 24. She gets the nod. Bad judges!

Emily Brooke

Emily has been here before and last time things did not go her way. The judges feel that she has grown a lot and that she is now ready to face America. She makes it to the Top 24!

Gianna Isabella

Gianna is an artist in her own right - there is too much focus on her mom. I’m glad the judges give her the chance to proof her worth. She makes it into the Top 24 – I’m ecstatic!

Jenn Blosil

Jenn is this season’s Joey Cook. She is all things weird and wonderful. Keith warns that “The chances of making it into the Top 24 are really slim,” Jenn has nothing to fear, she’s made the cut.

Tristan McIntosh

Young Tristan seems to be a producers’ favourite. Her performance is full of oomph. Another fake-out by the judges. No surprise when she gets told she has made it to the Top 24.

Jordan Sasser

Jordan and Kacye Haynes face the judges together. I hope Kayce makes it through, he has nicer pants. He doesn’t. The spot goes to Jordan instead.

La’Porsha Renae

Whoever was left standing with La’Porsha would have known it’s the end of the row for them. Sorry Lindita, it really was a no-brainer!

What did you think of last night’s show? Did your favourite make it into the Top 24? Tune in next week to see the first Group of 12 perform!
