Power Couple SA Recap: All about Perception
When Dyllan and Vix lost the couples challenge and was put up for elimination against Gift and Bana, the writing was on the wall for one.
After the couples challenge revealed that most couples believed they knew Gift and Bana the least – and some thought they were having the most sex in the house because their door is closed a lot – it was clear they were going to be in a lot of danger. More than that, the couples thought Dyllan and Vix was the most inspiring couple, as well as the couple they learned the most from. The contestants also thought Vix was the most forgiving partner in the house, as well the contestant who has sacrificed the most for their partner.
Dyllan and Vix definitely killed the challenge based on what the other couples thought of them, but they definitely did not kill the challenge based on the answers they gave. They were the least in sync couple, and lost the challenge, meaning they were in danger of being voted out.
They found themselves up against Gift and Bana, the couple with the least amount of cash in their electronic wallet.
This was simple.
Gift and Bana became the second couple voted out of Power Couple SA after all the couples, except for Mo and Phindi, decided to save Dyllan and Vix instead.
Over to some good news – for some – Mo and Phindi won the couples challenge, adding the 25k bonus to their wallet, which stands at 115k, far ahead of the other couples. They had to come from behind, just pipping Ivan and Roshila in the end. Speaking of, Mo and Phindi had some things to say about the Ivan and Roshila. Uh oh.
Apparently, Ivan is very “competitive”, and “wants to be at the top by himself”. During the couples challenge, the couples were asked which couple they perceived to be the smartest. The answer? Ivan and Roshila. Phindi goes as far as to call the couple “calculating”.
I guess I have my favourite couple now. It’s no secret that I like a smart couple who is willing to play the game, and wants to win. This is a reality game show. You play the game to win the game, its how it works.
Later, during the elimination ceremony, when Ivan said he definitely “isn’t losing the fun aspect”, Mo made a real confused ‘Is it?’ face. Could only be good for the show.
Another couple who should have felt happy about what they heard during the couples challenge is Emile and Razia. When the contestants were asked which couple is a power couple, the answer was Emile and Razia. They were also picked as the “most relatable” couple. If that doesn’t put a target on their back, I don’t know what will. If couples were “calculating”, Emile and Razia would be a good couple to target.
Dean and Crystal, or more so Dean, didn’t really love the challenge. When the couples were asked which contestant appreciates their partner the least, the answer was Dean. He seemed visibly uncomfortable. When asked about it, he said it was “none of their business, really”. Crystal was also deemed the “most supportive” partner. Dean still not very comfortable. It ended well for them, though:
When the couples were asked which couple shares the same vision, the answer was Dean and Crystal. They “know what they want”, according to Dean. Actually pretty sweet, eh?
The “most envied” couple was PJ and Marzanne. Everyone wants their honeymoon phase back. PJ and Marzanne was also the correct answer to the “Which couple has the most sex?” question, and PJ said he was very confident in that answer. You go, PJ?
Even though Dyllan and Vix found themselves in danger of being eliminated, the episode likely belonged to them. We got a good sense of how the other couples perceived them, and they definitely came out looking pretty good: a couple who has really had to work to get where they are.
What did you think of the episode? Was the right couple eliminated? Who’s in danger next?
