Idols South Africa: Predicting The Unpredictable
Theatre Week has been an emotional rollercoaster ride like never before. It was with a very heavy heart that I watched the Top 29 contestants take to the stage for their solo performances as I was still mourning the departures of early favorite Josh Webber as well as the super groovy Emma Ellis.
You're Gonna Go Far Kid!
I'm still of the opinion that by sending half of the Golden Ticket winners home without performing we have been deprived of an abundance of talent. Unfortunately that boat has now sailed and all we can do is pray that it doesn't suffer the same fate as the Titanic. With the Top 16 reveal taking place this coming Sunday I felt morbidly obligated to sift through the proverbial rubble and find the 16 contestants most likely to wow the viewers during the live rounds. Easier said than done as my head was in constant battle with my heart. Some of the early front-runners nose-dived into oblivion the while a few others proved that slow and steady might indeed 'win the race'.
Could Lungisa Xhamela Be The Next South African Idol?
After yet another mini Idols Marathon courtsey of Dstv Channel 199, a near caffeine overdose and a rather reluctant marriage between my head and my heart I present to you my official Idols South Africa Top 16 Prediction:
Amanda Anthony (21) Busi Mthembu (22) Dineo Moseki (21) Elwira Standili (22) John Niel (24) Karabo Mogane (23) Loyiso Gijana (16) Lungisa Xhamela (24) Mmatema Moremi (22) Nadia Herbst (20) Nonhle Mhlongo (29) Rhema Varrie (20) Ruan Grobbelaar (24) Shenay O'Brien (24) Siphelele Ngcobo (24) Thami Shobede (26) I have a feeling that the production team is looking for a female winner and they might very well get their wish as the girls seem to outshine the guys this season. In the voice of Effie Trinket I wish you all good luck and 'may the odds be ever in your favor!'
Nadia Herbst Has All The Makings Of a Pop Star
See who makes it into the Top 16 this Sunday at 17:00 on Mnet channel 101 and Mzansi Magic channel 161.
