After Nkuli Tshirumbula and Nombulelo were eliminated after round one, it left the 2 contestants we knew would be the top 2 all along.
On the night, Leigh-Anne Williams seemed nervous, and in sporting terms, choked, whereas Karlien van Jaarsveld stepped up - starting with a 30/30, and finishing with another full score. With the finale's scores totalled up, Karlien and Devon were standing on 88/90, and Leigh-Anne and Johannes on a 81/90.
Karlien van Jaarsveld and Devon were announced as the victors after the public vote, beating Leigh-Anne and Johannes at the finish line.
Earlier, Nkuli and Nombulelo went out on a high note with their 'The Matrix' inspired freestyle. They received a personal best score of 27, higher than Leigh-Anne's 24. So, good on him! He had to fight his way into the finale and went down swinging. Or dancing.
This result shows that it's how you finish that counts, not how you start. That said, Karlien's popularity definitely played a major part.
On the night, she earned it.
