Zoo Episode 1 recap: The new apocalypse theory.
For years the world has been theorizing about how the end is going to happen. Survivalist all over the world are preparing for mutants attacking from outer space, zombies eating our brains, deadly virusses taking down the world or Terminator rising from the ashes. Finally CBS has given us some new material. Our pets are coming to get us folks. Beware.
Joking aside Zoo looks like it could be a hit.
CBS brings us a new thrilling Sci-Fi with stars like James Wolk from Mad Men Kristen Connolly from House of Cards. James Wolk stars as Jackson Oz an Africa Safari Guide who starts to notice strange animal behaviour when a group of 5 or more male lions band together to attack a group of tourists out of safari.
In Los Angeles lions escaped from a local zoo and goes on a killing rampage, in Botswana a group of lions band together and take out a whole camp of tourist and manage to cover their tracks in the process. Groups of house cats go missing and are discovered together, hiding in a tree at a park waiting for kids to come to day care.
Jackson Oz is a very likeable, very sexy character who pulls on your heart strings from the first possible moment by stopping a rhino hunter by scaring of the rhino in the process making himself a rather serious enemy. Back in LA Kristen Connolly starring as Jamie Campbell a reporter and serious blogger against 'the man' is fired for taking on what she believes to be a corupt company for the lion attacks. With little else to do she finds herself back at the zoo to speak to the animal pathologist Mitch Morgan (played by Twilight's Billy Burke) about the reason behind the lions attack. While there she brings his attention to the hordes of missing house cats in a nearby neighbourhood.
Meanwhile a group of five or more lions take out a group of tourist out on a safari, attack Jackson's friend and colleague Abraham Kenyatta (Nonso Anozie) and sends Jackson and the last survivor of the safari group running back to the camp. When they get back to the camp they call in backup but before anything else can happen the authoroties come to lock up Jackson for interupting the rhino hunt.
Last scene? Abraham being dragged into a tree by a lion and waking up to probably the most fearful experience a girl can imagine.
So folks, once the kitties start dissapearing stay far, far away from zoos and do not go on safari's.
Zoo airs every Tuesday at 9pm on CBS.
