Taylor Swift’s ‘Bad Blood’ Tops Billboard Hot 100
Life just keeps getting better for T-Swizzle. She says “See You Again” to Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth, knocking their Furious 7 hit from the top spot with the 4th single from her smash album ‘1989’. After premiering the star-studded music video to ‘Bad Blood’ at the Billboard Music awards, the song, now featuring rapper Kendrick Lamar, quickly tore its way up to the top of iTunes, claiming the #1 spot for the whole tracking week. All the hype clearly paid off.
‘Bad Blood’ is not only Swift’s 4th #1 on the Hot 100, but it also tops the Hot Digital Songs chart this week with 385,000 downloads sold, and in doing so claims Swift’s 10th Digital Songs chart topper, tying Katy Perry for the second most #1’s on that chart. Rihanna still leads with 12.
As it turns out, when it comes to chart achievements, Taylor Swift is like Oprah. A chart achievement for you, a chart achievement for you, and a chart achievement for everybody!
Kendrick Lamar also scores his first #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 thanks to Taylor. All rappers are now lining up to work with the new princess of pop. Orderly line, gentlemen. And Nicki. And Iggy - if you think what she does is rap.
‘Bad Blood’ is also a huge chart achievement for songwriter Max Martin, who scores his 20th, yes, 20th, #1 as a songwriter on the Hot 100.
Who wouldn’t want to work with Taylor Swift? Success by association is the new guilt by association.
