Top Ten Most Shocking TV Deaths - That You Had to See Coming.
When I started writing this Top Ten I was so going to do a most shocking TV deaths mainly due to The Flash’s season finale. I mean – did anyone see that one coming? And even though there are PLENTY of very shocking TV deaths out there that had fans screaming from roof tops and making their anger very well-known over the twitter sphere, there is another side to this coin folks… A not so well published side. The deaths that we had the see coming, those that we were waiting for and yet – they still shocked the hell out of us.
In no particular order…
Walter White – Breaking Bad.
A lot of people found themselves stuck in front of their televisions every week waiting to see how Walter would mess up his life next. We all expected that either Walt or Jesse would have to kick the bucket to give the series finale any kind of oomph. Yet, there we all were screaming at the TV when Walt got taken out by his own scary machine gun. At least he died a happy man right?
Denny Duquette – Grey’s Anatomy
Yeah, it was sad… Grey’s has a long list of really sad stories and is very well known for their dramatic endings and big exits for well-loved and well-known characters. Yes Denny was dying from the start so you had to expect it… but did it have to happen right after all the happy? Did he really have to leave Izzy and make her go NUTS?
Clay – Son’s of Anarchy
Okay – from the start I knew Clay was going to have to go. No way could he get away with all of that and stick around. At some point Jax would clue up, or one of the many gangs would get him. Yet each season came and went with no big exit for Clay. And the longer they waited to do it, the bigger the climax. And when it finally did happen I actually felt kind of robbed. Left with this big feeling of ‘is that it?’
Rita Morgan – Dexter
Yes, a lot of people have read the books (me included). A lot of people knew not to expect a happily ever after. But when it finally happened I think a lot of Dexter fans were left in shock. And disgust.
Beth – The Walking Dead
I think at some point in The Walking Dead us fans should get to the point where we really should not be shocked by any death. Have they not proved that ANYONE is fair game by now. We have seen favourites, leads, not so favourites, all of them die. Yet when it was Beth’s turn I still felt pissed at the writers. How could they?
Derek Shepherd – Grey’s Anatomy
You cannot tell me you were shocked… for the last few seasons there have been a lot of speculation if he was actually going to renew his contract or not, and a few times we actually did think he was going to leave. But when he died. Wow. Killer episode. No pun intended. I was on the edge of my seat the ENTIRE episode.
The Red Wedding – Game of Thrones
Well The Red Wedding, and just about every other death they have thrown our way was expected. The writers have managed to stay really true to George RR Martin’s books when it comes to killing off the favourites. Yet somehow I still felt a stab to my heart when they got taken out. Why???
Adriana La Cerva – The Sopranos
It was bound to happen. But the way it did. In the woods? Really?
Lance Sweets – Bones
I have been a diehard fan of Bones since its inception. I have been with them through thick and thin. When we lost Zack (ouch), when Booth and Bones FINALLY hooked up, when Wendell got sick. So I knew, I just knew that something big had to happen as the show really needed to be shaken up a bit. I did not expect it to be Sweets’ death.
The Huntsman – Once Upon A Time
Let’s face it. Anyone that shacks up with the evil queen is bound to get burnt. It just sucked that it happened right when he remembered everything. Henry’s one ally bites the dust.
