Review
After 3 successive US National wins the Barden Bellas seem unstoppable. Under the lead of Beca (Anna Kendrick) they embark on a nationwide victory tour, stopping at the Kennedy Center where they get to perform for President Obama. A very unfortunate wardrobe malfunction turns the Bellas from national treasures into a national disgrace - stripping them of their right to compete, banning them from auditioning new members and giving their remaining tour stops to a rival group from Germany. Hysterics ensue when the Bellas are given a final chance at redeeming themselves - Winning the global accapella championship. Regardless of most of the talent returning, the sequal to the 2012 shimmering success fails to deliver as much punch as its predecessor. There is plenty of girly bonding and singalong cheerfulness but there is also a vague yet constant feeling that something is amiss. The accapella covers of popular songs make for entertaining viewing but the performances seem somewhat lacklustre. The storyline has a definite mean undertone yet still manages to entice some spontaneous bursts of laughter. All in all an enjoyable watch albeit without much substance. Score 3/5
